The Department of Production and Industrial Engineering, Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University) Chandigarh, today concluded its 2-week long Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “Digital Manufacturing Technologies: Forecasting the Future of Industry”. The Program was sponsored by AICTE Training and Learning Academy. Prof. Baldev Setia, Director, PEC, was the Chief Guest of the valedictory ceremony and Professor Qasim Murtaza, Delhi Technological University, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. The FDP commenced on 9th January 2023 in a hybrid mode, starting with online expert lectures by eminent experts and group discussions in the first week, the FDP was followed by practical sessions and presentations in the following week.
The event started with Prof R.S Walia, Coordinator, HOD, Prod. Engg. and Dr. C.S Jawalkar, Joint Coordinator apprising the members present about the vision of the department and the highlights of the two-week FDP.
Prof. Baldev Setia, Director PEC, complimented the organising team for their valuable efforts to organise such illuminating FDP. He focused on the significance of such programs in boosting research, education standards and intellectual thinking. He also highlighted that Digital Manufacturing Technologies are the need of the hour and such manufacturing is also associated with our national agenda of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Smart manufacturing. He congratulated the participants for attending such enriching lectures from the experts and for practical sessions in the state-of-the-art facilities of PEC.
Prof. Qasim Murtaza, Delhi Technological University, complimented the organising team for conducting such enlightening sessions on various topics under Digital Manufacturing in a hybrid mode and motivated the participants to further pass on the knowledge and experience of the program.
Various experts from top research & technological institutes delivered lectures on advanced and interesting subjects like Machine Learning applications in Digital Manufacturing, Smart Manufacturing, IIOT etc. Some of the renowned speakers were: Dr. Pradeep Kumar (Prof., IIT Roorkee), Dr. Girija Moona (Sr. Scientist, CSIR), Dr. Rupesh Kumar (Prof., IIM Kozhikode), Dr. R. S. Walia (HOD, Prod. Engg. (PEC)), Dr. C. S. Jawalkar (Prof., Prod. Engg. (PEC))
Dr. Ravinderjit Singh Walia, Head of the Department of Production and Industrial Engineering, PEC, expressed gratitude towards all the expert speakers, participants and organising team for their whole-hearted effort in making the event a huge success.
The event concluded with Prof. N.M Suri giving the vote of thanks. The Program witnessed enthusiastic participation from research scholars, faculty and students of various institutes like IIT, NIT, PU, DTU and many more. The participants were grateful to attend such informative sessions from the experts in the field and for the platform to explore new areas and ideas of manufacturing.
