The annual 3 day Pre-Placement Training 2022, organized by CDGC (Career Development and Guidance Cell), PEC was inaugurated on 22nd April for the students of B.Tech 2nd year and M.Tech 1st year in hybrid mode.
The sessions were started at 10 AM with the opening ceremony where Dr. JD Sharma, Head, CDGC, welcomed all the panelists and the students, and shed light on what role CDGC (Career Development and Guidance Centre) plays in helping students secure internships and placements. He also emphasised how this Pre-Placement training can be utilised to its full potential to lead the students towards great opportunities. The guest speakers, Mr. Nidesh Kumar and Mr. Gautam Bawa, introduced themselves and gave a brief outline of what they had prepared for the students. Following this, Dr. Baldev Setia, Director, PEC, congratulated CDGC for its successful efforts in improving the placements at PEC. He also commended the organizing team for their exponential efforts in planning the event in hybrid mode.
The first workshop of the day was taken by Mr. Gautam Bawa, Master Counsellor at Byju’s who gave a detailed introduction of MBA and how “it is the ability to sell - market yourself”. The main focus of the session was on how to solve CAT questions using tips on Mathematics and Aptitude. The speaker also included real-life examples to draw the attention of the audience, providing advices through the mistakes in those stories and gave tips on standing out in interviews. The session lasted for roughly two hours, and the expert provided the students with tools and tricks for better and efficient problem-solving. He also gave plenty of brainteasers for the student to learn and solve on the spot.
Mr. Kunal Nandwani, uTradeSolutions startup founder, took the second session for the day which focused on ‘Entrepreneurship and how to do a Startup'. The speaker addressed how the students need not have an original idea but rather a unique approach to build a successful startup. He highlighted that although the students may never have a unique idea, good teams can make even bad business plans work. He provided the students with information on which sectors to venture into and what skill sets to work on to be a successful startup founder.
The sessions of the first day of the Pre-Placement Training provided students with a good understanding of CAT, solving problems and knowing what they should aspire for. After lunchtime, the events switched to the online platform Zoom.
