An Interactive session for the beneficiary students of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh under the Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme was organized today at Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University) Chandigarh by All India Council for Technical Education. Prof. T.G. Sitharam, Chairman of AICTE, was the Chief Guest of the Session. Prof. Baldev Setia, Director PEC, Sh. Rakesh Kumar Ganju, Assistant Director AICTE, Dr. Neeraj Saxena, Adviser-AICTE, Prof. Rajendra B Kakde, Adviser-AICTE, Dr. R.K. Soni, Adviser-AICTE and Sh. Ajeet Angral, Consultant AICTE, graced the occasion with their presence.
The event started with Dr. Neeraj Saxena, Head-PMSSS, AICTE, apprising the present students about the Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS), followed by a detailed presentation on the process of applying for the scheme, its benefits and challenges by the PMSSS team.
Prof. Baldev Setia, Director PEC, extended a very warm welcome to all the dignitaries and students present for the session. He briefed the audience about the rich history and illustrious alumni of PEC. He stated that PEC honours and offers diverse social space to its students as at least 50% of the student strength come from all over the country. The institute also admits students under PMSSS and other Govt schemes. He encouraged the students to learn from the session and spread the message about the scheme among other students.
Prof. T.G. Sitharam, Chairman of AICTE, complimented PEC for its rich history of more than a century. He complimented the present students for their confidence and hard work. He mentioned that to solve the grievances of students regarding the scheme, AICTE is doing everything to make it simpler and is working towards full online access. He motivated the students to make notes from the sessions and spread the message to other students to apply for the scheme to achieve their goals in life.
The session continued with a question-answer session and concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. R.K. Soni, Adviser, e-Governance, AICTE.
