The Production and Industrial Engineering Department of Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University),Chandigarh, organised a faculty development programme from 29th August to 2nd September 2022 for 31 Faculty/Technical Staff under Department of Technical Education, Haryana. The programme encapsulated copious studies pertaining to relevant modern technologies. The symposium proved to be a splendid affair under the guidance of Prof. N.M Suri and Prof.R.S. Walia.
The FDP commenced with a visionary and motivating speech by Prof. (Dr) Baldev Setia, Director, PEC, Chandigarh. Post registrations, the first day consisted of articulate lectures on concepts such as Smart Manufacturing & IIOT, 3D Manufacturing and CNC technologies. The participants were enthralled with the insights they gained throughout the day and generated positive responses regarding the same. The following days involved further delving into the vast expanse of modern technologies prevalent in the field of manufacturing. The candidates were exposed to subjects including IOT, Smart Cities, Computer Aided Machining, recent developments in Welding, Automation, CNC, Leadership, and Ergonomics. The group visited the state of the art Semiconductor Research Centre and Center of Excellence Siemens to furnish familiarisation with said technologies.
The itinerary involved practical case studies which were covered to facilitate interactions with the participants. The event concluded with a valedictory session where the Director, PEC addressed the delegates with an articulate speech, highlighting important contributions made by diploma engineers and expressed a desire for such events to continue in the forthcoming future. The Director, Department of Technical Education, Haryana also attended the valedictory session and expressed their future collaboration with PEC, Chandigarh under various initiates. The candidates gave a string of positive feedback and were elated at the prospect of learning unique topics to add to their teaching arsenal.
