The Computer Centre, Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh in association with Production and Industrial Engineering Department and Department of Technical Education, Haryana organized an Expert Lecture on Introduction to Internet of Things (IoT) on 30 th August, 2022. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Sanjay Batish, Head Computer Centre. The lecture focused on the areas like Cloud Computing, Mobile Sensors, Computer Networks and Information Security. He updated the audience about the developments that are taking place in UT Chandigarh that aim to improve public transportation through mobile sensing. Prof. Ravinderjit Singh Walia, Head, Production and Industrial Engineering Department, PEC was the Chief Guest for the lecture.
The lecture comprised to theoretical and practical sessions. Use of IoT in modern Smart Cities such as Smart Homes, Smart Transport, Introduction to Fog Computing, How to build IoT Devices were some topics discussed during the lecture.
The participants learnt the planning and creation of IoT Web Applications including the information architecture and user interface. This lecture was an introduction to the world of Internet of Things (IoT) for the participants. For the development of an IoT solution, participants worked on the Raspberry Pi to design and develop practical IoT devices while learning programming and computer hardware. In addition, participants learnt how to set up the Raspberry Pi environment.
Dr. Walia thanked the Coordinator, Dr. Sanjay Batish and his team for providing the platform to organize Expert Lectures on such innovative technologies. He appreciated faculty members, students and other participants for the successful conduction of the lecture.
