The Computer Centre of Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh, successfully organized the third batch of the ICT Training Program for Officials from the Police Department of Chandigarh from 20th August, 2025 to 18th September, 2025. The Valedictory Event of this training was graced by Prof. S.K. Mangal, Dean Academic Affairs, Punjab Engineering College, as the Chief Guest, who commended the Computer Centre for its sustained efforts in capacity building and appreciated the enthusiasm of the participating police officials. In his address, Prof. Mangal emphasized the increasing role of ICT skills in strengthening policing and governance, underscoring how digital tools, e-governance platforms, and cyber awareness can enhance transparency, efficiency, and citizen services.
The program was coordinated by Dr. Sunita Mehta, Course Coordinator, and Dr. Sanjay Batish, Head, Computer Centre and Nodal Officer, ensuring smooth execution and high-quality content delivery. Expert trainers Sh. Sushil Kumar, Sh. Prabhsimran Singh Bindra, Sh. Sandeep Pathak, and Sh. Tejinder Singh conducted intensive sessions blending theoretical knowledge with practical applications. The curriculum included Computer Fundamentals, e-Governance Portals (eHRMS, DigiLocker, GeM, PFMS, NDLI), MS Office Applications, Internet and Cloud Tools (Google Drive, Docs, Forms), Networking Basics, Cybersecurity Awareness, and Mobile Technology including Android fundamentals, empowering officials to adopt secure and collaborative ICT practices in their daily work.
By equipping police and fire department personnel with practical ICT competencies, the training reinforces PEC’s enduring commitment to digital capacity building, skill development, and modernization of public service sectors. This initiative continues to foster a digitally empowered law enforcement workforce capable of leveraging technology to meet the challenges of modern policing and improve governance outcomes.
