The Department of Mathematics, PEC, Chandigarh, organized a one-day outreach programme on "Recent Advances in Mathematics" on January 20, 2025 for B.Sc. and M.Sc. students of DAV College, Sector 10, Chandigarh. The event was convened by Prof. Asha Gupta, Head of the Department of Mathematics, PEC, Chandigarh with Dr. Rattan Lal and Dr. Ankit Kumar serving as coordinators. The programme commenced with the felicitation of Prof. Rajesh Bhatia, Director, PEC, Chandigarh, and Dr. Mona Narang, Head of the Department of Mathematics at DAV College, Sector 10, Chandigarh. Dr. Mona Narang, along with three other faculty members from DAV College, Sector 10, Chandigarh were present in this programme. This was followed by an address by Prof. Asha Gupta, who highlighted the objectives of the event and shared detailed insights into the research activities, fellowship opportunities, and facilities available in the Department. Subsequently, a video presentation showcasing the achievements and initiatives of the Department was presented to the attendees.
Afterward, Prof. Rajesh Bhatia delivered an inspiring address, emphasizing the importance of mathematics and encouraging further collaboration and the organization of such programmes in the future.
Following a high-tea break, nine research scholars of the Department of Mathematics, PEC presented their work, each delivering 10–15 minute presentations on their respective research areas. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Ankit Kumar, inspiring the participants to feel motivated, and well-informed about the latest advancements in mathematics, as well as the exciting opportunities for future research collaboration.
