The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) USA invited the ASCE PEC Student Chapter to participate in the prestigious Concrete Canoe Finals at Fairmont University, USA, scheduled from June 25–27, 2026. This marks a landmark opportunity for PEC students to showcase their technical excellence and innovation on an international platform. The invitation follows PEC’s successful hosting of the ASCE India Symposium (March 25–28, 2026), which brought together around 150 civil engineering students from across India.
Established in 2014, the ASCE PEC Student Chapter has consistently been recognized as one of the most active technical societies of the institute, earning accolades such as the Best Student Chapter Award, Outstanding Faculty Advisor Awards, Student Leadership Award and many more. Dr. Har Amrit Singh Sandhu (Faculty In Charge) of the ASCE PEC Student Chapter, shared “This invitation is an amazing opportunity for our students to demonstrate their technical capabilities at an international forum. It reflects the dedication and talent of PEC’s civil engineering community.” Prof. S.K. Singh (Head, Civil Engg. Department) congratulated the team, stating: “This is a proud moment for PEC. Our students will not only represent the institute but also India at the finals, competing with international teams. Their participation reflects the technical capabilities and leadership potential of PEC's civil engineering students. He shared that the dimensions of the concrete canoe are 6m in length, 0.85 m in width and 0.45 m in depth.
Prof. Rajesh Bhatia (Director PEC) also congratulated the team and expressed his excitement over this achievement in the technical society. He remarked that the PEC has always stood for excellence, integrity, and innovation. This feat by our civil engineering students is a shining example of how sincerity, ethics, and hard work lead to global recognition. I am confident that our team will uphold PEC's values and make the nation proud. I wish them the very best as they compete on the international stage.
The student team representing PEC at the finals includes Balkaran Singh, Arjun, Vishwam, Vaibhav, Ansh, Daanish, and Ishaan, along with their faculty in charge, Dr. Har Amrit Singh Sandhu. Their participation underscores PEC’s vision of nurturing innovation, teamwork, and international collaboration. This milestone reinforces PEC’s growing reputation as a hub for civil engineering excellence and its dedication to preparing students for leadership in the global engineering community.
