Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sh. Sanjay Beri, son of Late Er. Bhisham Kumar Beri, a Mechanical Engineering graduate from the Batch of 1962. The MoU formalizes the establishment of the "Sh. Bhisham Kumar Beri & Smt. Sudesh Beri Scholarship," supported by a generous contribution of ₹30 Lakhs.
The signing ceremony took place on 27th December 2024, in the presence of Prof. Rajesh Kumar Bhatia (Ad Interim Director, PEC), Prof. Rajesh Kanda (Head, Alumni, Corporate and International Relations), Dr. Jimmy Karloopia (Professor-In-Charge, Alumni, Corporate and International Relations), and Ms. Priyanka.
This scholarship will provide full tuition fee support of ₹1,76,000 annually to one deserving student. The first cycle will commence in 2025, benefitting one student from the Batch of 2025-2029 for the full four years of their B.Tech program. Subsequent scholarship cycles will follow every four years, ensuring sustained support for future PEC scholars.
Prof. Rajesh Kumar Bhatia expressed heartfelt gratitude to Sh. Sanjay Beri for this thoughtful initiative, emphasizing the importance of alumni contributions in strengthening PEC’s academic ecosystem and fostering excellence. Prof. Rajesh Kanda, himself a proud PEC alumnus, lauded this act of generosity, highlighting how such initiatives not only uplift students but also inspire the entire PEC community to cultivate a culture of support and growth.
Sh. Sanjay Beri reflected on the deep personal significance of this gesture, describing the scholarship as a tribute to the legacy of his father, a proud alumnus of PEC. He also expressed his commitment to fostering further collaborations that support academic excellence and student welfare at PEC.
