Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh, through its Speakers Association and Study Circle, successfully organised VERVE 2026, North India’s largest quizzing festival, on January 31 and February 1, 2026. The two-day event witnessed enthusiastic participation from quiz teams and individual participants representing various institutions, creating a competitive, intellectually stimulating, and vibrant atmosphere across the campus.
Day 1 featured two quizzes co-hosted by Factaco. The Sports Quiz tested participants across a wide range of sporting disciplines and events. After an intense and closely contested competition, Gokul S secured first position, while Anand, Ayush, and Shashank finished as runners-up, and Ayush Awasthi from EY claimed the second runners-up position.
The second quiz of the day, FCGAW (Flags, Countries, Geopolitics, Art, and War), challenged participants on global and interdisciplinary themes. Team Anand, Ayush, and Shashank emerged as winners, Avi, Daksh, and Yatharth from PEC secured the runners-up position, while Arnab, Aatij, and Sarwar finished as second runners-up. The day witnessed fierce competition and reflected the growing enthusiasm for quizzing among students.
Day 2 continued the momentum with two engaging quizzes. The General Quiz, hosted by Factaco, covered a broad spectrum of topics ranging from current affairs to popular culture. Ayush, Anand, and Shashank secured first position, Arnab, Tanay, and Natansh finished as runners-up, while Amlan, Vivet, and Upamanyu claimed the second runners-up position.
The MELA Quiz, conducted as an in-house event, added a festive and interactive dimension to the competition and encouraged wider participation from students across disciplines. Amlan, Vivet, and Upamanyu emerged as winners, Gokul S and Yashvardhan secured the runners-up position, while Ahir and Lakshya finished as second runners-up.
VERVE 2026 was convened by Prof. Amandeep Kaur, with Daksh and Yatharth serving as Student Convenors, and Siddharth as the Student Co-Convenor. The event was organised under the guidance of Dr. D. R. Prajapati, Dean of Student Affairs, and Dr. Puneet Chawla, Associate Dean of Student Affairs. Across both days, the festival showcased sharp intellect, spirited participation, and an electrifying campus environment, reinforcing VERVE 2026 as a significant celebration of quizzing culture among students.
