The 76th Annual Athletic Meet at Punjab Engineering College concluded on an exhilarating note on 10th October 2024, with athletes from various departments delivering standout performances. Day three saw intense competition across multiple track and relay events, culminating in an exciting closing ceremony.
The day kicked off with the *4x100m Mixed Relay*, where the Mechanical Department team of Mohit, Yashika, Sanchi, and Aditya secured first place, finishing in 55.30 seconds. The Computer Science Department team of Eknoor, Ujwaldeep, Angad, and Senona followed in second with a time of 59.38 seconds, while the Aerospace Department team of Naman, Rehan, Sathvika, and Arpita came third, completing the race in 1 minute and 1.06 seconds.
Next up was the highly anticipated *4x400m Relay (Boys)*, where the Mechanical Department triumphed once again with Mohit, Udit, Abhishek, and Shikhar clocking a time of 4:15.32. The Electronics and Communication Engineering Department finished second, with Ritvik, Prashant, Aditya, and Pawan completing the race in 4:16.90. The Civil Department secured third place with a time of 4:20.33, while the Computer Science Department placed fourth.
In the *4x100m Relay (Girls)*, the Computer Science team of Nanki, Yashika, Ujjwal, and Yagya claimed victory, finishing in 1:06.17. The joint Civil and Mechanical team followed in second with a time of 1:10.35, and the Aerospace Department team came third in 1:10.77. The team from Metallurgy and B.Des placed fourth, clocking 1:12.67. The meet also featured impressive individual performances, starting with the *1500m Boys Final*, where Rahul secured first place with a time of 5 minutes 23.05 seconds, followed by Shikhar in second, Prasham in third, and Hemang in fourth.
In the sprint events, Yashika shone in the *200m Girls Final, clinching first place with a remarkable time of 24.78 seconds, followed by Sanchi in second, Ujwaldeep in third, and Khushi in fourth. In the **200m Boys Final*, Mohit also dominated the race, matching Yashika’s winning time of 24.78 seconds. Pawan took second place, with Aditya finishing third and Shaquih coming in fourth. The grand closing ceremony was graced by *Director Prof. Rajesh Bhatia, **Dean of Student Affairs Dr. D.R. Prajapati, and **Registrar Col. R.M. Joshi*, who served as the chief guests for the event. All three dignitaries extended their congratulations to the athletes for their stellar performances and applauded their dedication. In their addresses, they highlighted the importance of sports in fostering teamwork, resilience, and overall student development, while encouraging everyone to strive for excellence in all endeavors.
As the 76th Annual Athletic Meet came to a close, PEC continues to uphold its tradition of fostering athletic talent, leaving everyone eagerly anticipating next year’s edition.
