Serving as the college's introduction to the fresh batch of students, the first day of the Under Graduate Orientation Programme of PEC University of Technology commenced on 1st August, 2017 in the auditorium of the University.
The inaugural ceremony witnessed the lighting of the lamp and the singing of PEC Anthem by the Chief Guest for the day, Prof. Pradipta Banerji, Former Director, IITR, Ms. Anasuya Banerji, Vice President, Vidya NGO, Mumbai Chapter, Dr. Manoj K. Arora, Director, PEC and the various institution functionaries present.
Prof. Banerji interacted with the students and urged them to follow their passion and develop flexibility in life. Elucidating the need for balance in life, he encouraged the students to explore the various avenues and opportunities presented to them before deciding upon a career. This was followed by an address by Dr. Arora who acquainted the students with the institute, its vast infrastructure and the shift of focus towards creating jobs instead of seeking them. The invited guest Ms. Banerji laid an emphasis on living a life with no regrets and motivated the students to be helpful to the society. The students were then acquainted with PEC as a brand through a video which provided an insight into the institute functionaries, the newly developed facilities and the infrastructure.
Later in the session, brief presentations were delivered by Dean Academic Affairs, Dean Student Affairs, Dean Alumni Affairs and Head of Centres like Career Development and Guidance Centre and Centres of Excellence. DAA introduced the academic policies while DSA and Career Development and Guidance Centre elucidated their functioning to the newly admitted students. It was very heartening to see the students interact with the various functionaries as they got to know more about the esteemed institute that they are now a part of. The maiden day signed off successfully as the students got a better insight into PEC as an institution and all the opportunities that it offers.
In the evening, various sports activities were organized for the students in which they participated enthusiastically.
