The second day of Under Graduate Orientation Programme of PEC University of Technology continued with verve. It focused primarily to introduce the new entrants to various departments of the University.
A highly informative session on Innovation and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) was delivered by Sh. Sujit Bannerjee, Scientist 'F', DST. He kick-started an interactive session while discussing about his earlier days as a fresher. He motivated the students by giving an enlightening speech on the prospect of fulfilling one's dreams. With quizzes and out of the box questions being asked, his speech inspired the crowd by the very motto of our college- Explore, Innovate and Excel.
Following this, insightful presentations were given by the Heads of various departments and centres viz. Aerospace, Applied Sciences, Centre of Management and Humanities, Civil, CSE, ECE, Electrical, Mechanical, Metallurgy and Production to facilitate a deeper understanding of the facilities, infrastructure, equipment and scope of each discipline. Welcoming the newly admitted students with a warm heart, they elaborated about the different research collaborations and consultancies being undertaken by their respective departments. They also threw some light on their department's placement statistics and gave a brief description of the recruiters.
After the introduction of the departments, it was time for the cultural clubs to demonstrate their prowess. Building on the energy of the students, came the presentation of PECFEST (the annual techno- cultural fest of the college). An entertaining session in the auditorium wrapped up the eventful day with energetic performances from the college's beloved cultural clubs. With a melodious performance from the Music Club members that brought the audience to their feet and a rousing debate by the Speakers' Association and Study Circle, the atmosphere turned electric. Following this, the exuberant performances by the Dramatics Club and Punjabi Ed Board brought the audience to cheers. The applause was a reminder of the event's success.
The second day of the Orientation carried forward the noble task of giving the kids an overview of what college life has to offer them and how to best utilize their time here for a lucrative career and a well-rounded personality.
