No matter what people tell you, words and ideas can change the world. Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.
The students at Punjab engineering college ( Deemed to be University) Chandigarh, were highly grateful to have amongst them, Dr. Kiran Seth, Founder of SPIC MACAY on 9th September 2022. At an age when people consider their life to assume a slow pace, Dr Seth was truly an exception for the students of Punjab Engineering College by being a man on a mission. Even after spending 45 years in the service of music in the country and at the age of 73, his primary objective is to involve every child in the country in Indian art and culture by 2030.
The event started with an introduction to Dr. Kiran Seth and SPIC MACAY followed by a felicitation by our honourable Prof, (Dr.) Baldev Setia, Director, PEC. After this, Dr. Kiran Seth conducted a speaker’s session with the students and enlightened them about the importance of classical folk and music. Dr. Seth enlightened the students that he was an Indian academician, and an ex-Professor Emeritus in the department of Mechanical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, he has embarked on a cycle journey, ‘Antar Yatra — An Inner Journey’, to propagate the Indian arts, cultural heritage and Indian classical music to every corner of India.
Dr Kiran Seth informed the students about his cycling from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. He started on 15th August 2022 from Srinagar, and will continue cycling towards Kanyakumari where he is expected to arrive on 31st January 2023. True to his Gandhian spirit, Dr Seth is an epitome of simplicity and rides a simple cycle, which has no gears, no disc brakes, no shockers and no GPS. Further, enlightening the audience regarding his organization, SPIC MACAY is a 45-year-old biggest, non-profit, voluntary, cultural, youth movement in independent India. Its contribution in spreading Indian Culture is unparalleled. Generations of Indians are today aware of different aspects of Indian Heritage and appreciate it, thanks to the efforts of the movement.
