In a resounding tribute to the spirit of 'Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav,' the National Service Scheme (NSS) wing of Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh, proudly organized the 'Meri Maati Mera Desh' event, a symbolic endeavor to nurture our land and honor our nation. The event saw the enthusiastic planting of 75 medicinal plants, reaffirming our commitment to both environmental preservation and national pride.
Gracing the occasion with his esteemed presence was the director of the institute, Prof. Baldev Setia, whose unwavering support has been a cornerstone of the NSS initiatives at Punjab Engineering College. Prof. Jaimala Gambhir led her dedicated team in the seamless coordination of the event, ensuring its grand success.
The highlight of the event was the participation of the revered faculty and spirited students, who collectively undertook the solemn 'Panch Pran Pledge.' This pledge serves as a testament to their deep respect for the gallant soldiers who have selflessly defended our nation and its freedoms. It underscores our commitment to nurturing and safeguarding our beloved motherland.
Adding a unique dimension to this green initiative was the selection of medicinal plants that were carefully planted. These plants, Aloe Vera, Ashwagandha, Brahmi, Kapoor Tulsi, Shaam Tulsi, Giloy, and Ajwain, boast significant medicinal properties.
Furthermore, the 'Meri Maati Mera Desh' event goes beyond the act of planting trees; it stands as a symbol of our aspirations for a self-reliant India. By nurturing these medicinal plants, we are taking steps towards self-sufficiency in healthcare and endorsing the revival of indigenous remedies. Our commitment extends to freeing ourselves from any remnants of colonial mindset, emphasizing self-reliance in all aspects of our lives.
