Students of Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh presented solutions for the challenging problem statements for the 7 th edition of Smart India Hackathon-2024 grand finale at their respective allotted nodal centers. 03 teams from PEC tackled problem statements in a 36-hour competition, with solutions evaluated by jury members.
The aim of the Smart India Hackathon-2024 is to foster critical and innovative thinking among participants, the hackathon seeks to bridge the gap between academic theory and real-world application.
Student teams led by Yashita Bansal and team members Kabir Arora, Bhavya Pratap Singh, Arnav Bansal, Aryan Kaul and Dushyant Bhardwaj implemented “An Interactive Job and Internship Platform for Technical Education Department, Govt. of Rajasthan”. Second team led by Arnav Vikas Garg along with team members Garima Beniwal, Harmanmeet Kaur, Ansh Ravi, Lovish Garg, Aaditya Singh Tomar developed “an Artificial Intelligence (AI) based model for electricity demand projection including peak demand projection for Delhi Power system”.
Each Problem statement offered a prize of INR 1 lakh per team.
One of the standout moments of the Smart India Hackathon 2024 was the annual address by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who engaged with participants through a virtual interaction. The Single Point of Contact(SPOC) and faculty at PEC, Dr. Shilpa, have stated that the participants were expected to focus on software solutions for the themes such as smart automation, smart education etc. The top performers in each category were awarded ₹1 lakh per team in recognition of their contributions to technological advancements and societal improvement. Before the grand finale, students were screened through an internal hackathon at institute level.
Dr. Rajesh Kumar Bhatia, Director PEC, has endorsed the engagement of PEC students to participate in SIH-2024 and supported the participating team for the premier nationwide initiative.
