Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University) launched a Short-Term Course on Digital Manufacturing from 4th to 8th March 2022 which was coordinated by Prof. S.K Soni , Prof. S.M. Salodkar, and Prof. A. Dubey of the Mechanical Department. The course commenced in the Department of Mechanical Engineering in collaboration with the Production Engineering Department and Centre of Excellence, Siemens, Chandigarh. Prof. Alakesh Manna, Prof. Sushant Sameer, Prof. Sanjeev Kumar, Prof. D.R. Prajapati of the same Department chaired the Inauguration session of the Short Term Course.
The course highlighted the demands and opportunities of digital manufacturing in the global business scenario. The one-week course emphasized on the passion for solving business problems using technology and innovation to achieve competitive advantages, delivering new products, digital transformation to more robust and lean business models, and improved business processes, experienced leveraging exponential technologies i.e. RPA, AI/ML, cloud,block chain, IoT, with deep understanding of industrial trends.
The program imparted experiential learning which consisted of master class lectures and laboratory exercises using comprehensive digital tools. Experts from various institutes and industries acted as guest lecturers in the program. Participants from various academic and industrial backgrounds attended the course.
The initiative was motivated by the institute Director, Dr. Baldev Setia and Deputy Director, Prof. Siby John, as a method to develop and acquire knowledge, perspective and skills in the emerging technologies and its seamless integration with the ecosystem.
