A National Seminar on "Product Design :A Human Factor Approach" was conducted by Centre of Excellence (Industrial and Product Design) at PEC University of Technology on March 06,2017.
Prof Neelam Rup Prakash, Co-coordinator, CoE (I andPD) in her inaugural Address highlighted the role of human factors in Product Design terming it as a "a scientific approach to human-centred design".
The seminar included talks by faculty from leading academic experts Dr C.Sujatha( IIT Chennai) ,Prof Avinash Shende(IIT Guwahati) and Dr Ravi Mokashi Punekar (IIT Guwahati) on range of topics - Whole Body and Hand Arm Vibrations, Product Form and Product Design Creativity and Innovations. Delegates from leading industry, Mr. P.J. Singh( Tynor Orthotics),Mr. Arvind Dixit (Advance Technologies) and Mr. Manas (Infosys) also shared their views on Product Design. The delegates also discussed how design thinking can lead to success or failure of a product.
Mr Kuldeep Singh IPS ADGP Training cum Director, Punjab Police Academy, Phillaur who was the chief guest on the occasion, formally launched a Dog Repellent fabricated at CoE(I PandD).He requested coordinator CoE Prof Kalra for use of this product at Police Academy. Mr Singh also launched a website on "Save the Back Campaign" initiative by CoE (I andPD).
Prof Parveen Kalra, Coordinator CoE(Iand PD) in his valedictory address stressed on the need for creativity in Product Design and the need to create an eco-system in which industry and academia work in unison.
