The Punjabi Editorial Board of PEC University of Technology, Chandigarh organized an event 'Safar' to commemorate the charismatic Indian revolutionaries and real heroes "Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev" on their 86th Martyrdom anniversary on 23.03.2017. Prof Rao Dhannevar, who is well known proponent of Punjabi Language was the Chief Guest of the event. He shared his views on the life of the Bhagat Singh and also motivated the audience to use mother-tongue too. He appreciated the team and also encouraged to do such events in future also. Sh Anil Barega, DGM, Indian Oil also graced the occasion with his presence. He stressed upon the character building of the youth.
The evening began with a poem paying obeisance to the invaluable sons of India. It was followed by a speech glorifying the life of the heroes by Ramandeep Singh. Kanika, Arshdeep and Kanwar highlighted the relevance of Bhagat Singh thinking even today. An important highlight of the event was a play that depicted the life of the charismatic yet fierce Punjabi personality Bhagat Singh and his thinking towards contributing his most to the nation's freedom struggle. It highlighted his bravery to fearlessly embrace death at the young age so that the individuals of 'Bharat' could enjoy liberty and their exploitation be hence rendered impossible.
The function was attended by Faculty, Staff and more than 100 students. A bright and bold Bhangra performance followed by the felicitation of guests by Prof J S Gill and Prof HAS Sandhu marked the end of the colorful evening.
