Punjab Engineering College (PEC), Chandigarh, observed Hindi Diwas on 14th September through a commemorative event titled 'Sankalp.' This significant occasion was orchestrated under the patronage of the Hindi Editorial Board (HEB) of the college.
The event resonated with the presence of eminent luminaries, including Dr. Ashok Kumar, Mr. Abdul Samad Khan urf Shamz Tabrezi, and Dr. Sangeeta Sharma Kundra, thereby rendering it a focal point of interest for a multitude of students. The eminent guest speakers were welcomed with floral bouquets.
Prof. D.R. Prajapati, Dean Student Affairs, delivered an address to the gathering, emphasizing the paramount importance of Hindi language and expounding upon its enduring significance in our daily lives. He told the importance of the day, 14th September i.e. Hindi Diwas.
Prof. Alka Jindal, Officer Incharge, HEB while extending her respect to the guests, underscored the imperative of bestowing full reverence upon the Hindi language and its profound relevance.
Dr. Ashok Kumar, in his enlightening discourse, elucidated the essence of Hindi Diwas and offered guidance on integrating our mother tongue into our daily existence. He also provided insights into the judicious use of Western languages and cultures, primarily for professional purposes.
Subsequently, Mr. Abdul Samad Khan urf Shamz Tabrezi, captivated the audience with his captivating poetry and ghazals , weaving a mesmerizing tapestry of rhythmic verses that left everyone spellbound.
Various members of the Hindi Editorial Board exhibited their talents, garnering well-deserved applause from the attentive audience. The celebration of Hindi Diwas included an homage to the illustrious 20th-century poet, Shri Harivansh Rai Bachchan, accompanied by an insightful exhibition showcasing his life.
Dr. Sangeeta Sharma eloquently expounded upon the importance of leading life with a clear vision, inspiring students with her mellifluous songs and ghazals, infusing them with renewed energy and enthusiasm.
The student winners of the "Srijan" essay writing competition, namely Ananya Bansal, Bhavishya Khunger, and Vinod Meena, were honoured.
The distinguished Guests were honoured with shawls and were presented with the timeless literary masterpiece, "Madhushala," authored by Harivansh Rai Bachchan.
The Hindi Diwas celebration concluded by The Vote of thanks delivered by Prof Alka Jindal, officer Incharge, Editorial Board. The students in attendance expressed their profound gratitude for the program, acknowledging a deeper understanding of the significance of Hindi Diwas.
