Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University) ignited the spirit of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, marking the 76th year of India's Independence, with boundless zeal and merriment. The institute inaugurated the celebrations with 'Prabhat Pheri' on the early morning of August 13, 2023.
Prof. (Dr) Baldev Setia, Director PEC flagged off a group of estimated over 300 students, faculty, staff members and PEC residents from the PEC administrative block towards Bougainvillea Garden in Sector-3.
Led by Prof. Baldev Setia, Director PEC, the spirited PEC-group was accompanied by Col RM Joshi (Veteran), Registrar PEC, D. R. Prajapati, DSA, Puneet Chawla, ADSA, and Sarbjit Singh, ADSA, as they walked in unison.
Keeping their Tricolours aloft and brimming with enthusiasm, the NCC and NSS volunteers in the forefront, echoing spirited slogans such as Vande Mataram, Jai Hind, and Bharat Mata Ki Jai, infusing vigor into the event as the group continued its journey towards the War Memorial.
The gathering at War Memorial, a place of reverence for the brave soldiers who dedicated their lives for the nation, united in a harmonious rendition of the National Anthem.
As the procession returned to PEC, the director thanked all participants, with special commendation for the organizing committee, whose fervor and dedication elevated the event.
The subsequent segment saw an array of refreshments and fruits served to all at the PEC Centenary Hall, fostering a sense of camaraderie and celebration.
Anticipation ran high as the institute look forward to celebrating the 77th Independence Day on August 15, 2023, within the campus. Festivities would encompass the unfurling of the National Flag by the director, a united rendition of the National Anthem, and a captivating cultural performance presented by the students.
