Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University) Chandigarh is hosting a delegation from Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management (RCOEM), Nagpur on the 15th and 16th May 2023. The visit is planned to study PEC's Best Practices in Research and Academics and for exploring collaborative opportunities.
Prof. Baldev Setia, Director PEC, gave a warm welcome to the delegates and complimented the organizing team for arranging such a constructive session that allows both institutes to engage and learn from one another. He informed the current delegates about PEC's illustrious history, achievements in academics, research, and extra-curricular activities at the national and international levels. He also encouraged everyone in attendance to make the most of the sessions and to share ideas on how to improve the quality of research and educational practices.
The event progressed with a detailed presentation by various deans and heads.
Dr. Arun Kumar Singh, Head Sponsored, Research & Industrial Consultancy, focused on the best research/consultancy practices and some of the key research areas covered by various departments of PEC.
Dr. Vasundhara Singh, Dean of Faculty Affairs, informed the members about the rules, regulations and guidelines about the academic processes, including promotion and tenure procedure at PEC.
The event continued with Prof. Rajesh Bhatia, Dean of Academic Affairs, informing the present members about the institute's academic structure and process, followed by Prof. D.R. Prajapati, Dean of Student Affairs, informs the delegates about extra-curricular activities and student achievements at the national and international levels.
The series of presentations continued with Prof. Poonam Saini, Head of the Career Development and Guidance Centre’s presentation about its yearlong functioning to help students get the best opportunities in the industry and get the best job placements nationally as well as internationally.
Shri M B Chandak, Dean Academics, RCOEM, Nagpur, presented a thorough history and operation of Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management, Nagpur. Shri. Rajesh Pande, Principal RCOEM, expressed his appreciation to PEC for hosting such a productive session and assisting RCOEM in growing and strengthening its system.
The delegates also visited the state-of-the-art research facilities, which include the Semiconductor Research Centre, Centre of Excellence Siemens, Production and Industrial Engineering Department and Material and Metallurgical Engineering Department.
On the second day of the visit, the group will meet with heads and deans to learn more about the institution's operations and to obtain information from the century-old institution, also a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be signed between both institutes for future collaborations in educational and scientific fields.
