The Senate Hall at PEC overflowed with nostalgia and warmth as the prestigious institution bid farewell to one of its distinguished alumni, Sh. Dharam Pal Ji, from the 1985 batch. Retiring on October 31, 2023, as the former Adviser to the Administrator of Chandigarh, Sh. Dharam Pal Ji was honored with a special farewell function attended by a vibrant group associated with PEC.
Prominent among the gathering were his revered teacher Prof. Y C Chopra, Prof. Baldev Setia (the Director of PEC), his class fellow from PEC - Prof. Renu Vij (the first woman Vice Chancellor of Panjab University), along with many batchmates representing the 1985 batch of B.E. Electronics and Electrical Communication.
Prof. Rajesh Kanda, Head of Alumni, Corporate, and International Relations, extended a warm welcome to Dr. Dharam Pal Ji as the Chief Guest of the evening. A brief video presentation highlighted the retiree's keen association with PEC over the years, setting the tone for an evening of reminiscence.
Director Prof. Baldev Setia, while elucidating his association with the former adviser, expressed his deep gratitude to Sh. Dharam Pal Ji for his resolute support and prompt assistance in realizing various plans and roadmaps for PEC.
Prof. Y C Chopra cherished and took pride in the success of his students, many of whom, he emphasized, are now leading top organizations across the country and abroad!
Earlier, sharing some juicy anecdotes and stories, Prof. Deepak Bagai and Prof. Renu Vij, close associates from Sh. Dharam Pal Ji's PEC years, added a touch of humor and mirth to the evening. They affirmed that the bond and camaraderie forged at PEC would endure and strengthen as they embarked on the next phases of their lives and careers.
In a gesture of appreciation and love, Prof. Setia felicitated Sh. Dharam Pal Ji with a floral bouquet and a small memento, symbolizing the steadfast connection between the retiree and his alma mater.
Briefly touching on his career path after graduating from PEC, Dr. Dharam Pal mentioned his conscientious and focused commitment to every assignment he undertook throughout his professional span as an Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officer over the years. Overwhelmed with gratitude, Sh. Dharam Pal Ji thanked everyone for their best wishes, the warm and heartfelt send-off, and expressed his deep sense of belonging to his alma mater.
