The Career Development and Guidance Centre of Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University) Chandigarh, today began with its two days event of knowledge: UDAAN- A Higher Education Initiative. “UDAAN” which symbolizes flight is a step towards guiding students to pursue higher education like MBA, MTech, and MS with informative and valuable sessions, peer connect, and a network to reach out to when in doubt. Prof. Siby John, Deputy Director PEC, was the chief guest of the inaugural ceremony. Dr. Poonam Saini, Prof-In-Charge CDGC, Nipun Marya, CEO of iQOO India, Vinod Karar, Chief Scientist, CSIR-CSIO, Poonardeep Singh, IES Officer- Indian Railways also graced the event with their presence.
The event started with a floral welcome of the chief guest and the lighting of the ceremonial lamp.
Dr. Poonam Saini, Prof-In-Charge, CDGC, extended a warm welcome to all the esteemed dignitaries. She mentioned that Career Development and Guidance Centre (CDGC) aims to provide diverse opportunities to students and UDAAN is a step in the same direction for students aiming to pursue higher education.
Prof. Siby John, Deputy Director PEC, complimented the organizing team for conducting a sequence of informative sessions by the best minds in innovation, research, education and many more and providing students with such platforms to interact and learn. He encouraged the students to make the most of these two days and wished them luck.
Day one started with an inspiring session by Mr. Nipun Marya on Insights for Driving Success in Today’s Dynamic World. An Alumnus of PEC and FMS, he is currently a CEO at iQOO India (Subsidiary of Vivo). Highlighting the importance of discipline and education in life to reach success he encouraged students to be resilient. He focused on building habits that will lead them towards their goals and help build their personality. Talking about the importance of knowledge in today’s world he encouraged students to acquire as much knowledge as they can.
The first day progressed with various talks and interactions planned for the day.

- Prospects of Product Management and Engineering by Vani Chawla, Program Manager, Amazon Global Robotics
- Career in Research & Innovation Avenues for Higher Education Abroad by Aditya Sharma
- From science to solutions: Applying Research to Real World Problems by Prashanth Suresh Kumar, Assistant Prof. at Plaksha University
- The day ended with an online surprise session by Mr. Yuvraj Tomar, an alumnus of PEC and Founder of Cloudworx Technologies, Thinqbot Technologies.
