In recent years, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh have experienced devastating floods, extreme temperature shifts, and unpredictable weather cycles. Witnessing these concerning consequences of climate change, the Fellows came up with Project Greenwatch, which focused on a powerful idea: empowering the grassroots.
The Fellows conducted climate-awareness sessions across Government Schools in Sectors 33, 19, 15-C, and 16, in collaboration with My Bharat Chandigarh and NSS. Students engaged with climate science through storytelling, visual models, real-life examples, and structured discussions. Painting conventions and quizzes related to the theme of climate change were also included in the sessions to make them interesting and interactive. Project Greenwatch also translated awareness into action through “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” plantation drives, enabling students to plant saplings and practice hands-on environmental stewardship.
In parallel, PEC’s MCN Network delivered Leadership Development Sessions on SDG mapping, project design, ethics, teamwork, and reflection, strengthening Fellows as purposeful and responsible leaders.
Today, Project Greenwatch stands not just as an initiative but as a movement that unites students, schools, and young leaders in building climate resilience. It reflects PEC’s commitment to shaping engineers who innovate responsibly and lead with global awareness. As the Fellowship continues, PEC’s Millennium Fellows carry forward a strengthened sense of purpose. The team grew together as thinkers, leaders, and changemakers, proving that even small actions can spark the fire to bring about meaningful change.
