The 10th edition of PECMUN, which is a 2-day celebration of diplomacy, organised by Speakers Association And Study Circle (SAASC), Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University) Chandigarh, started on 18th February, 2023. With over 200 delegates from esteemed colleges like IIT Delhi, St. Stephen's College, IIT Mandi, Thapar University of Technology and Khalsa College Delhi to name a few. Five committees were set up to give students an introduction to how the United Nations Organization functions. The committees were the UNGA (United Nations General Assembly), UNSC (United Nations Security Council), ECOSOC (Economic and Social Council), UNCWS (United Nations Commission on the Status of Women) and AIPPM (All India Political Parties Meet). After an extensive explanation of the code of conduct for a Model UN, committees discussed matters of socio-political and socio-economic importance.
While there were detailed discussions on the existing problems, the committees were unable to come up with satisfactory solutions on day one and the committees will be sitting again on 19th Feb 2023, and are expected to yield results on their respective issues.
