PEC Launches New Institute Website


Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh launched a new institute website on 28th March, 2022. The website was launched by Sh. J.M. Balamurugan, IAS, Principal Secretary to Governor, Punjab, Chief Guest for the event in the august presence of Prof. Baldev Setia, Director, PEC, All Deans, Heads of Departments, Registrar and other officials of the institute. The Director welcomed the Chief Guest, Sh. J.M. Balamurugan and thanked him for sparing his valuable time for the launch.

Dr. Sanjay Batish, Head, Computer Centre coordinated the event and briefed the gathering about various features of the website. He explained that the new website of the institute has been developed in accordance with the Guidelines for Indian Government Websites (GIGW). These guidelines have been followed throughout the lifecycle of the website right from its conceptualization to design, development, maintenance and management. The new website has been designed keeping in mind the ever-changing technological need of the Institute website. In this website, apart from an aesthetic makeover, the institute has tried to give rights to individual stakeholders like, Deans, Heads, faculty members and other officials of the Institute to be able to update content on the website on their own. The PEC Information System that hold the information submitted by the institute to various bodies like AICTE, NIRF etc. has been integrated into the website so that there is single point of access of Data for all Regulatory needs.

The Director of the institute appreciated the efforts of the Computer Centre in making website more user friendly and easier to update.

Recent Research Activities

Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), in collaboration with IEEE Region 10, IEEE Chandigarh SubSection, IEEE Delhi Section and Galgotias University, hosted an International Workshop on "Best Practices in Educational Activities Workshop" in hybrid mode ideated by IEEE R-10 Education Activities Committee. IEEE is the world’s largest technical professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity.

The Semiconductor Research Centre, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering conducted a week-long Advanced workshop on ‘Semiconductor Device Design, Fabrication and Characterization’ in technical collaboration with IEEE Chandigarh Subsection and ISSE Chandigarh Chapter. Sh. Dharam Pal, IAS and Adviser to the Administrator was the chief guest for the inaugural ceremony.

Civil Engineering Department, in association with the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (Department of Space) Dehradun, organized one day workshop titled “Open Source Geospatial Products in Disaster Management.” The primary mandate of the workshop is to create awareness about the various free available software for digital mapping used in disaster management. Participants from Chandigarh Administration, Fire department, DGRE attended the workshop.
