The Office of the Dean Student Affairs (DSA), Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh, under the leadership of Dean Student Affairs, Dr. D.R. Prajapati, today inaugurated the Girls’ Common Room on the campus.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Er. Rajiv Kumar Gupta, IAS, Labour Commissioner-cum-Director Transport, Punjab, as the Chief Guest, along with Er. Jagmohan Garg, President, Satya Darshan Charitable Trust, Panchkula, and Er. Manoj Lohariwala, CMD, Innova Captain Limited, as distinguished guests. The occasion was further dignified by the presence of Prof. Rajesh Kumar Bhatia, Director, PEC, Dr. D.R. Prajapati, Dean Student Affairs, Prof. Puneet Chawla, Associate Dean Student Affairs, senior faculty members, and girl students of the institute.
The newly inaugurated Girls’ Common Room has been thoughtfully designed to provide a comfortable, safe, and inclusive space for girl students to utilize during their free hours for academic work, interaction, relaxation, and other constructive activities, reflecting the institute’s continued focus on student welfare.
The initiative was further strengthened by the generous contribution of furniture items for the Girls’ Common Room by Satya Darshan Charitable Trust, Panchkula, and Innova Captab Limited. This support was made possible through the dedicated efforts of Er. Rajiv Kumar Gupta, IAS, an illustrious alumni of PEC from the Department of Mechanical Engineering (Batch 1992–96), highlighting his enduring association and commitment to his alma mater.
The Estate Office of PEC played a pivotal role in the successful planning and execution of the facility.
