Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh, reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and equitable environment by organizing a comprehensive awareness session on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) at the workplace on April 17, 2025. The session was jointly conducted by the Student Counselling Cell and the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of the institute.
The resource person for the session was Prof. Rajesh Kumar Chander, Head of the Department, Department-cum-Centre for Women’s Studies & Development, Panjab University, Chandigarh. A distinguished academician and expert in the field of gender studies and legal awareness, Prof. Chander delivered an in-depth and enlightening presentation on the provisions of the POSH Act, 2013. He elaborated on the various forms of sexual harassment, outlined the legal framework for redressal, and emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in ensuring a respectful and secure work environment. His address was enriched with case studies, legal interpretations, and an interactive dialogue with the audience, enabling greater understanding and sensitivity on the subject.
Following the session, Dr. Rajesh Bhatia, Director (Ad- Interim) , Punjab Engineering College, addressed the gathering. In his remarks, Dr. Bhatia underscored the institution’s unwavering resolve to uphold the highest standards of safety, dignity, and professional ethics within the campus. He lauded the efforts of the organizing bodies and highlighted the critical role of awareness and sensitization in empowering individuals to stand against all forms of harassment.
