Punjab Engineering College celebrated Samvidhan Diwas (Constitution Day) amongst its faculty, staff and students in Senate Hall of the instittue with a live telecast of the celebration from “The Centre Hall “ of the Parliament of India, New Delhi. Director PEC, Dr Baldev Setia, Deputy Director, Deans and Head of the department participated the live session. In his address Dr Setia congratulated all present there and shared the full day programme at PEC to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India to cherish, uphold and protect the fundamental ideals enshrined in the Constitution- which is a beacon for Indian democracy
To mark the momentous occasion Dr. Baldev Setia, led the mass reading of the preamble of the Constitution of India along with the faculty and staff members of the institute with the live telecast.
Later in the day, a Quiz on Constitutional Democracy was conducted for the students. The quiz, which is an initiative of the Government of India, is open for all the citizens on online portals, aims to raise awareness about the Preamble to the Constitution, Fundamental Rights and Duties, Directive Principles of State Policy and democratic principles. PEC also encouraged all its members to partake in this activity by organizing the quiz in the Senate Hall. The quiz received tremendous participation and reminded students of the values enshrined in our Constitution. In the evening a guest lecture was coordinated where Sh. R.S. Bains, Senior Advocate, Punjab and Haryana High Court spoke on Demystifying the Constitution of India. The lecture was arranged by the office of Dean Students Affairs and attended by senior faculty and students.
