Sh. Rajinder Gupta, Chairman of the Board of Governors at Punjab Engineering College (PEC), has received the esteemed "Vastra Ratna" Award for Special Achiever, honoring his pivotal role in the textile industry. Presented by the Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council (TEXPROCIL) on its 70th anniversary, the award celebrates outstanding contributions to building world-class Indian textile companies. Sh. Gupta, Chairman Emeritus of Trident Group, has grown the company into a global $2 billion conglomerate, emphasizing sustainability and community development.
A pioneering industrialist, Sh. Gupta established the Takshashila Centre of Excellence, offering training and job opportunities to thousands. His philanthropic projects include the multispecialty Madhuban Hospital and large-scale medical camps that provide healthcare to underserved communities. With a commitment to sustainability, Trident Group sources 42% of its energy from renewable sources, including biomass and solar, and aims to reach 50% renewable energy use by 2025. Trident also recycles 100% of water in its towel and sheeting production, reclaiming over 2,651 million gallons of wastewater, while its Eco-Twist technology offers eco-friendly towels, minimizing environmental impact without sacrificing quality.
