Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh is observing Industry-Academia Interaction week from September 23-27, 2024. The Department of Electrical Engineering of PEC organized a session today on 24th September, 2024 featuring Er. H.S. Oberoi, General Secretary, PECOSA and currently working as the Deputy Chief Engineer at PSPCL, Khanna, Punjab, delivered his talk on "Electrical Distribution System Overview". He shed light on the usage and consumption of Electricity, beginning from its generation to transportation and then further distributions. He also talked about the Per Capita Consumption of the users and the GDP of the country.
While giving his insights on the voltage and economic consumption of energy, he also talked about the greenhouse gases, leading to the usage of solar energy. He provided a comparative analysis of the power consumption between various nations. This engaging talk followed by interesting questions by the students of the department left the session interesting, and inspiring.
The Department of Aerospace Engineering of PEC also organized Industry Academia Expert Lecture Week by inviting experts from diverse fields of Aerospace Engineering and Aviation such as Sh. Aurobindo Handa (former Director General, AAIB, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Govt of India), Sh. Kulinder P. Singh (INSA Senior Scientist, Mumbai), Sh. Vivek Kalotra (Regional Director, CEMILAC, Chd), Sh. K.P. Singh (Ex-Chief Designer, HAL), Dr R.S. Pant (Ex-HAL and Professor – IIT Bombay) and Sh. Vikrant Satya (Former Scientist and Project Director, DRDO).
The event commenced with the inaugural session on “Aviation: Opportunities & Challenges” delivered by Sh. Aurobindo Handa, former Director General, AAIB. Handa’s insightful presentation highlighted the current trends and the future potential in the global aviation sector, especially focusing on the Indian landscape. He discussed key opportunities like enhancing infrastructure and embracing sustainable aviation technologies, as well as the challenges the sector must overcome to stay competitive. Sh. Handa delved into the role of innovation and policy reforms in driving the growth of the aviation industry.
In the similar way, the Department of Mathematics organized a talk on September 23, 2024. The speaker, Mr. Devashish Kumar, an expert in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Cloud Computing, delivered a lecture on "The Mathematical and Computational Foundations Driving Innovation in Emerging Technologies." During the talk, Mr. Kumar emphasized the role of mathematical and computational methods in driving innovation in emerging technologies like AI and Machine Learning. He also highlighted real-world applications of these technologies, sharing insights from his various AI initiatives and projects available on platforms like Google Play Store and GitHub. The talk by Mr. Devashish Kumar provided valuable insights into the intersection of mathematical and computational techniques with cutting-edge technologies.
