PUNJAB ENGINEERING COLLEGE (DEEMED TO BE UNIVERSITY), CHANDIGARH, today concluded its 74th Annual Athletic Meet. Sh. Nitin Kumar Yadav, IAS, Home Secretary, Chandigarh Administration was the Chief Guest of the closing ceremony of the three day event. The athletic meet started on 17th March 2023 with a wide spectrum of sports activities and events.
The closing ceremony started with a floral welcome of the chief guest by Prof. Baldev Setia, Director PEC, and Dr. D.R. Prajapati, Dean of Student Affairs.
Prof. Baldev Setia, Director PEC, complimented the team and the participants for organising the three day event with such high spirit. He highlighted the uncertainty that was resulting due to covid-19 and its lingering effects in the past few years. While addressing the gathering, he emphasised on the importance of sports activities to handle the after effects of the pandemic and the importance of sports for having a healthy body and mind. He also highlighted that to keep our physical health aligned with our mental health in today’s stressful world and to go by the National Agenda of Har Ghar Dyan, PEC is soon going to open a Yoga/Meditation centre at its Campus.
Sh. Nitin Kumar Yadav, Home Secretary, Chandigarh Administration, expressed his gratitude to be part of the Annual Athletic meet. He complimented the efforts of the dean students affair and the team for organising such an event focusing on the betterment of the physical as well as mental health of the students, faculty members and staff of PEC. He also emphasised on the importance of sports in one’s life to face challenges with grace, overcome obstacles and the strength it gives you to strive for excellence. He mentioned that sports gives us the platform to build character and foster positive values. He appreciated PEC for conducting the athletic meet on a regular basis as it gives the young athletes the platform to showcase their talent and boost their confidence to face real life challenges. He encouraged all the students to participate in such events with the true spirit of sportsmanship.
The event continued with a Prize distribution ceremony and vote of thanks by Dr. D.R. Prajapati, Dean of Student Affairs.
