A Blood Donation Camp was organized by the NSS Unit of PEC University of Technology in coordination with the Department of Transfusion, PGIMER (Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research) on 27th September 2017. The team of doctors from PGI led by Dr. Suchet Sachdev collected 293 units of blood.
The Chief Guest for the occasion was the Director, PEC, Dr. Manoj K. Arora. Accompanying him were the Dean Student Affairs, Dr. Perminderjit Singh, the Associate Dean Student Affairs, Dr. Sanjay Batish and the NSS PEC Coordinators. Their arrival was followed by projection of a video made by NSS volunteers depicting the importance of blood donation. Also the Director, PEC shared his experiences and urged the students to carry on the noble cause. Both the Director and the DSA appreciated the efforts of the donors.
A felicitation ceremony was held for the donors where their contribution was acknowledged. The 'Star Donors' i.e. the people who have donated blood at least four times in the past were presented with a token of appreciation for their valuable contribution in this noble task. Also, the first 200 donors were rewarded with a humble gesture of appreciation.
This move serves as a motivating factor for the donors; encouraging them to actively participate in Blood Donation Camps in the future. The students were given donor cards that would help them in future to obtain blood in times of need.
