Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh was delighted to host its 1981 Mechanical Engineering batch Alumnus Er. Gursharan Singh, Senior Vice President of Micron Technology, who visited PEC with some of his batchmates on 28th February, 2024. Er. Gursharan Singh, Senior Vice President of Micron Technology interacted with the group of students, who are selected as Intern in Micron. He also appreciated the knowledge and technical skills of the students. Later the batch met with Director PEC & other senior members of staff. Prof. Baldev Setia, Director PEC, along with Dr. Rajesh Kanda, (Head, Alumni, Corporate & International Relations), Dr. Jimmy Karloopia, (Professor-In-Charge, Alumni, Corporate & International Relations) extended their warm welcome to the alumni of 1981 batch. Dr. Poonam Saini (Head, CDGC) Prof. Arun Kumar Singh (Head, SRIC), Prof. Vasundhara Singh (Dean Faculty Affairs) along with other faculty members were also present at this moment.
The Prof. Baldev Setia, esteemed Director of PEC, expressed his gratitude for having alumni of 1981 at the campus. He explained the recent initiatives & collaborations of PEC on the basis of academics, research, students, infrastructural developments, and administration developments including many on-going activities. He discussed some of the potential areas for future collaborations with the batch & also provided them with the glimpse of some of the prospective projects undertaken by PEC. Later the batch was felicitated with souvenirs & a Coffee Table Book describing the 100 years of legacy of the institute.
Dr. Kanda, gave insights into the current working, research, projects and academic achievements of the institute. This reunion fostered the sense of nostalgia while updating the alumni of the recent happenings of the institution.
Dr. Karloopia shed light on the various initiatives undertaken by the alumni office. He highlighted the significant contributions of PEC's alumni towards the growth and success of the institute. Afterwards, Dr. Jimmy along with Ms. Rajinder Kaur (Alumni Relations Manager) gave the alumni a tour of the campus enabling them to revisit those nostalgic moments of classes deep down into their memory lane.
