Dr. T K Jindal, the Head of the Aerospace Engineering Department and all faculty members (Aerospace Engineering Department), Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh, conducted a meeting with the Airbus team on 24th August and 1st September 2022. An enlightening and informative panel discussion on the topic “Future of Aviation” took place involving eminent leaders of Airbus and Dr Abha Gupta, PEC Representative, Faculty at Aerospace Engineering Department PEC Chandigarh.
The discussions highlighted the need and plan to update the academic curriculum to get students additionally acquainted with the emerging needs of the aerospace industry. The discussions also focused on the provision for industry-based lectures from Airbus experts. The panel focused on the need to provide more internship and placement opportunities to PEC students. The members of the meeting proposed to have more collaboration with faculty members on various modern-day industry-based topics like Simulations & Physical Systems, Airframes, and Materials, which is a critical requirement in today’s rapidly advancing and dynamically changing aviation world. It is expected that MOUs will be signed with Airbus.
The department of Aerospace Engineering was set up in 1962 and it is one of the oldest departments of India offering courses in Aerospace Engineering. The department feels proud of the illustrious alumni like late (Dr.) Kalpana Chawla (astronaut of NASA ‘s Space Shuttle mission), Padma Shree Dr. Satish Kumar, Sh. Yogesh Kumar, Inderjit Chopra, Deepak Bansal and many more.
M/s Airbus SE, European Multinational Aerospace Corporation, earlier organized “Airbus Day” in PEC Auditorium on 24th August 2022 for all the B.Tech 3rd and 4th-year students and M.Tech final year students.
