With the completion of 99 years and commencement of the Centenary year celebrations, PEC hosted its 99th Foundation Day on 9th November 2020. Throughout these years, PEC has not only created exceptional leaders, but it has also taken the bar of quality education one step ahead. PEC has always valued the importance of formal education and a compassionate mind equally. As an institute, PEC has always provided future generations with extraordinary facilities and resources.
We were honoured to have Shri V.P. Singh Badnore, Honorable Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh with us to grace the event with his presence as the Chief guest for the event.
With the same legacy but more energy, the celebrations started with a small video followed by a welcome note by the Director of PEC; Dr. Dheeraj Sanghi.
The Distinguished Alumnus/Alumna Awards are presented annually by the Institute and Young Alumnus Award has also been added this year to recognize outstanding services of an alumnus below 40 years i.e. the achievements in the early stage of his/her career.
Office of Alumni Relations had received over 100 nominations for our alumni from all parts of the world and the screening and selections were done by two different committees.
The prestigious ‘Distinguished Alumni Awards’ and ‘Young Alumnus Award’ for the year 2020 were announced by Dr. Divya Bansal, Dean Alumni Corporate and International Relations.
The distinguished alumnus awardees and the young alumnus awardee also joined the celebrations online and they were introduced to the entire PEC fraternity online.
Prof Grover talked about the precious history and culture that PEC shares and also introduced the Chief Guest for the event. The Honourable Governor then addressed everyone to congratulate everyone on the success that PEC has achieved over the past 100 years. This was followed by an address by Prof Uma Batra where she also announced the commencement of the PEC Centenary Lecture Series. To show the beautiful journey spanned by PEC throughout these years, a small video “Our Journey” was also broadcasted. Cultural performances were organised by various clubs of PEC like Dramatics and Punjab Editorial Board to showcase the broad talent that students of PEC hold towards the end. More than 500 alums joined the event online.
PEC will continue with the celebrations by hosting the PEC Centenary Lecture Series, which will start on the Education Day; 11th November.
PEC with its esteemed culture and refinement is looking forward with a vision to educate young innovative minds and create new benchmarks for quality education.
