Recruitment for faculty positions (under Self Supporting Programme) in the Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh

1. Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh invites applications for the following faculty positions purely on temporary basis under Self Supporting Programme of ME Computer Science (Information Security) in Cyber Security Research Centre:

2. Qualifications & Experience:

   
   Associate Professor (SS) at Academic Level-13A1, Entry Pay Rs.1,31,400/-.

   Essential:

   1. Ph.D. degree in the relevant field and First class or equivalent at Bachelor’s and Master’s level in the relevant branch. AND
   2. Minimum of 8 years of experience in teaching / research / industry out of which at least 2 years shall be Post Ph.D. experience. AND
   3. At least total 6 research publications in SCI journals / UGC / AICTE approved list of journals.

   
   Desirable:
   Without prejudice to the above, the following conditions may be considered Desirable:

   1. Teaching, research industrial and/or professional experience in a reputed organization in the area of Information Security.
   2. Published work, such as research papers, patents filed/obtained books and/or technical reports
   3. Experience of guiding the project work/ dissertation of PG/Research Students or supervising R&D projects in industry.
   Note:
   1. For the post of Associate Professor, the 8 years of experience in teaching / research / industry should be equivalent to Assistant Professor and supported with sufficient proof of service in UGC/AICTE pay scale issued by the competent authority.
   2. In case the suitable candidate is not available at the level of Associate Professor, the Institute has the right to fill it at the level of Assistant Professor.
   
   Assistant Professor (SS) at Academic Level 10, Entry Pay Rs.57,700/-
    

   Essential:

   Ph.D. in relevant discipline with first class in both Master’s Degree and Bachelor Degree in the appropriate branch of Engineering (Engg.) & Technology (Tech.)

   Desirable:
   Without prejudice to the above, the following conditions may be considered desirable:

   1. Teaching, research, industrial and/ or professional experience in a reputed organization in the area of Information Security.
   2. Papers presented at conferences and/or in refereed journals.
       

   Note: Candidates who have done Ph.D. after the Bachelor’s Degree from institution of National importance with GATE/ GPAT/ CEED shall be eligible for the post of Assistant Professor.

3. Degrees in the following relevant branches / specializations at B.Tech./B.E./M.Tech/M.E./ and PhD level are required from the applicants:

   # Information Security, Cyber Security and Digital Security can be used interchangeably wherever it exists above.

4. Pay Band, Academic Grade Pay and Allowances:

   Associate Professor (SS) Academic Level 13A1 :    Entry Pay Rs.1,31,400/-
   Assistant Professor (SS) Academic Level 10 :         Entry Pay Rs. 57,700/-

   In addition, the post carry allowances (such as dearness allowance, house rent allowance, medical allowance etc.) as approved by the Chandigarh Administration and the Board of Governors / Board of Management of the institute.

5. Terms & Other Conditions:
   1. The above mentioned faculty positions are temporary and likely to continue as long as the self supported ME course continues.
   2. The initial appointment will be for three years.
   3. The posts shall carry all the benefits admissible to regular faculty except for the LTC.
   4. The employees shall be governed by the New Pension Scheme.
   5. The teaching posts will be entitled for reimbursement for attending national/international conferences, and reimbursement of books etc as available to regular faculty members.
   6. The posts shall carry the benefit of HRA (House Rent Allowance) but will not be entitled for allotment of Government accommodation / lease accommodation.
   7. Existing faculty members of Punjab Engineering College, if selected on these posts, will be treated as transferred to these posts on deputation on a temporary basis or as approved by Board of Management / Board of Governors.
   8. Candidates from other organization, if selected on these posts should have a commitment of at least three years from his/her organization to serve at Punjab Engineering College.
   9. Incomplete application forms or not in prescribed format will be rejected for each post.
   10. Separate application form is required for each post.
   11. Candidates already in service should route their application through proper channel and also attach “No Objection Certificate” from the Competent Authority.
   12. The appointment will be subject to the candidate being medically fit
   13. The initial appointment will be for three years subject to initial probation period of duration two years for Assistant Professor and one year for Associate Professor as per CCS rules, as approved by the Board of Governors of the institute.
   14. The Institute further reserves the right to amend the number of posts or not to fill any of the posts or fill at the lower cadres, as mentioned in the advertisement at its discretion without assigning any reason thereof.
   15. No TA/DA in connection with the submission of application form or appearing in the final interview will be paid to the candidate
