The PEC Chapter of American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) organized the 3rd edition of civil engineering technical fest “Reconnaissance 2017”,at PEC, in association with Compete India Zone (CIZ), AimCo Solutions and Ultratech. This fest which is regarded as one of the most prominent technical events in the region, attracted participation of over 750 students from Punjab, Haryana and Delhi NCR. Sh Satish Vij (ASCE-President India), Sh. GJS Rosha and Dr Siby John graced the inaugural session and motivated the students to participate in such kind of events and wished teams good luck. This year the organizers introduced various new and challenging competitions like Earth Stabilizer: Reinforced Earth Block making, Concreto: Concrete Canoe making,Trussler: Spaghetti Sticks bridge making and interesting workshops like REVIT and Drone Mapping.
Dr. H.S. Gusain (Scientist, SASE), Dr Kamal and Prof Arshdeep Singh judged ‘Poster Presentation’ and appreciated the participants. Moreover, to sensitize the younger generation regarding sustainable development a United Nations Environment Program simulation,“Young Leaders’ Summit “ was also organized which saw participation from around 70 students from schools across the tricity. Apart from other events, Drone mapping workshops was also well received by the all the participants.
Sh Virender Chowdhary (HCS), AEO Chandigarh, graced the closing ceremony and appreciated the efforts of entire organizing team, especially Prof HAS Sandhu, Mr Apoorv and Mr Kimti. He congratulated the organizing team of RECONNAISSANCE for putting up a grand event and was impressed by the variety of innovative events organized in just 2 days. Mr Akshay Raj (Director - CIZ), Mr Hemant (Manager – Ultratech), sponsors of the eventappreciated Institute management, and also Team encouraged the young students to keep on innovating and follow their dreams and make the nation proud.
