Academic Registration of Ph.D. Candidates

The following schedule and process for academic registration of Ph.D. candidates may be followed:



24.07.2017 (Monday)

from 10:00 AM onwards

  1. Ph.D. students to report to respective HODs.
  2. The HOD to provide list of   faculty with specialization to the candidates.
  3. Ph.D. students should interact with the concerned faculty based on their area of research and specialization the detail of which may be furnished in the enclosed Performa-I.
  4. The students should fill up and submit Performa-I for finalization of supervisor.

26.07.2017 (Wednesday)

from 10:00 AM onwards

  1. Academic Registration at DH-4 (Drawing Hall-4)
  2. After Registration, academic briefing in respective departments.
  3. Finalization of the supervisor of the candidate by the DRC.
  4. Submission of Performa-II for formation of SRC by the supervisor.

27.07.2017 (Thursday)

from 10:00 AM onwards

  1. SRC of the candidates should be formed (in Performa-II) and sent to Academic Section.
  2. Performa-III for courses to be undertaken should be submitted in the department.

28.07.2017 ( Friday)

from 10:00 AM onwards

  1. The SRC should finalize the courses to be undertaken by the candidate (in Performa-III).
  2. Ph.D. students to register for courses in Academic Section alongwith copy of Performa-III.

Note: All the records are to be maintained in the respective departments. Performa-I & II should be sent to the office of Dean Academic Affairs for approval.

Admission to the PhD programme is made on the basis of interview or written test (GATE/ NET syllabus) or both as determined by PhD Admission Committee of the concerned Department provided the candidate fulfils all the requirements at the Institute level and the selected candidate deposits the requisite fees for the PhD Programme. Admission through online registration will be done twice a year in July and November. The applications received will be processed in the various departments for written test/interview. Internal faculty/ staff members, who are GATE/ NET qualified, will be eligible for admission through interview only, while Non-GATE/ Non-NET candidates will be admitted through interview and written test. The admission to PhD programme at any time during the session is allowed to give opportunity to candidates with high accomplishments who have been awarded government recognized scholarships in Sciences, Engineering, Social Sciences and Management and have the requirement of joining within a stipulated time frame. Such admissions shall be approved by the Chairman Senate on the recommendations of DRC and Dean Academic Affairs. The PhD admission committee of the department will consist of Head of the department, members of DRC and potential supervisors in various areas.
