Dr. Baldev Setia joined as the Director of Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh in the afternoon today (Wednesday, August 11, 2021). With a blend of more than 35 years of experience in teaching, research, consultancy and administration Dr. Setia has joined PEC on lien from NIT, Kurushetra where he had been serving as a Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering since 2006. He was extended a warm welcome by the Officiating Director, Registrar and all the Deans followed by a brief round of introductions and pleasantries. In his address to the Deans committee, he requested cooperation and support from one and all in making contributions towards the upliftment of the institute.
He was awarded his PhD by the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (India) in 1998. He holds his Bachelors in Civil Engineering and masters in Water Resources Engineering, both from Regional Engineering College Kurukshetra, now National Institute of Technology Kurukshetra. Dr. Setia has served at various leadership positions including the Director at the All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi, the Principal of Maharishi Markandeshwar Engineering College, Mullana, Dean (Academic) of the Institute and Head of the Civil Engineering Department. Presently, he is the Nodal Officer of the Indian Institute of Information Technology, (IIIT) Sonepat, which had thus far been mentored by NIT Kurukshetra. He has published more than 170 research papers in international and Indian journals and conferences including four patents protected under Intellectual Property Rights (India).
He has been member of the Governing Council of various institutions of eminence such as Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Sonepat and University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET) Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra.
