Dramatics Club

“All the world's a stage,

And all the men and women merely players…”

The Dramatics Club is a true epitome of talent. Keeping up with its reputation of being a pioneer in everything, the club kicks off every year with an electrifying performance at the Orientation programme. Orientation is followed by a recruitment drive through which the club hand picks fresh talent from 1st and 2nd year students to give them a platform for honing their acting skills. Immediately after, the club organizes week long workshops through which the new recruits are introduced to both the basic and complicated nuances of theatre.

The workshops culminate into the traditional Dramatics event, "Aaghaz", the event in which the new recruits showcased their talents to the world. This also gives the new members an opportunity to implement what they had learnt in the workshops.

The members of this club are not just limited to the PEC domain, their feats boast of various inter college events. The team has developed quite a reputation in local theatre groups after a streak of wonderful performances in regional cultural and theatre fests. Latest feats include – winning 3rd prize in street play competition at IIT Delhi – Rendezvous’08, winning first prize in street play competition at St. Bede's College, Shimla - Serendipity 07, second prize in Skits Competition and third prize in Stage Plays including the Best Actor Award at Punjab University Fest – Goonj.

The College Fest, PECFest is yet another platform where the Dramatics Club, as usual, takes up the challenge with full zeal and spirit. The club organises various events like an Admad show, Skit Competition, Street Play Competition, Stage Play Competition, Group Dance, Couple Dance, Street Dance Competition, and at the same time, participates in all of them and enthralls the audience.

In keeping with the club’s reputation of being innovative, the members always rise to a new challenge. When the members get accustomed to the stage, the club always raises the bar. Last year, a highly reputed professional was called who conducted rigorous workshops for the members followed by another event, called ‘Tadka’.

Since constant innovation is an integral form of theatre, the dramatics club, keeping up with its history of initiating changes, has ventured into several new directions. The club tried its hand at movie making and a small 5 minute movie named "Nemesis" was made. All work in the movie from acting to direction, camera, editing was done by the members of the club.

Henceforth becoming one of the first clubs of college to have its own website.

Dramatics Club is one of the most reputed clubs in PEC and the Club is raring to soar new heights.
