SAE has been a constructive force in advancing mobility technology and continues to imprint its hallmark on all self-propelled machinery. Today India is at crossroads and is chalking out its growth plan in the Automo-tive Engineering sector.
SAE being an International Organisation having expertise in the field of automotive engg can help India achieve its objective. Keeping India's long term development plan in mind,SAE decided to establish SAE-India as an affiliate of the parent body. As a first step in this direc-tion, three sections ( Northern, Southern, and Eastern) as well as five operating boards (Section governance, Membership, Publications, Meetings and Expositions and Students) were set up.SAE-India provides professionals and students exposure to the automotive engineering industry,give them a forum to interact. It also monitors growth and have feedback cells in the various mobility-related sectors,to ensure proper sustained and continuous development.

SAE-PEC is a non-profit, autonomous body constituting students who are devoted to advancing mobility engineering knowledge base. The Collegi-ate Club Chapter of Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) at Punjab Engineering College was established in March 1999 with Dr. Kirpal Singh as the Faculty Advisor.
Ever since its inception, SAE-PEC has been organizing various informa-tive and interactive activities,which include regular technical paper presentations quizzes,lectures by various eminent professionals from the industry and visit to various automobile industries. It is largest working organisation in the campus. It boasts a strength of 120 erudite working members. In the near future sae-pec plans to undertake pioneering the task in the field of automotive engineering.
