STUDENTS CHAPTER - PEC
The IEEE-Computer Society was started in PEC in Jan 2001 ,under the guidance of Prof. Gurnam Singh ( In charge of IEEE, PEC students chapter) and Mr. Sanjeev Sofat, with Mr. Mohit Aggarwal as its Chairperson. The 2003 batch of the computer society consists of 22 enthusiastic members , continuously striving to gain and share technical knowledge and awareness.
Till date, the society has organized industrial trips to companies like The "Infosys", SAS Nagar and The "CSIO" for its members. The trips provide the student members an idea as to how the companies actually function. It gives them a flavor of the industrial setup and the basic requirements of the job.
An Intra-College programming contest-"SemantiCa" was organized in the college premises by the society in 2003.
Apart from this, the in-house activities of the society include a weekly quiz based on programming and aptitude questions, discussion of various programming problems. Also a mention of the recent developments in the computer world with references from the Computer Society Magazine and the IEEE website is made. An in-depth discussion of the quiz is done which helps in understanding the fundamentals of programming and enables to build upon those basics.
Weekly seminars on various technical topics ranging from 'Wireless Application Protocol', 'Functional Programming' to 'Encryption' and 'Steganography' ,are organized and presented by the society. These seminars are open to all students.
The IEEE-CS endeavors to gain awareness in the technical and programming spheres through interaction and spreading this knowledge to all those possible.
