A Blood Donation Camp was organized by the NSS Unit of PEC University of Technology in coordination with the Department of Transfusion, PGIMER (Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research) on March 16' 2016. The team of doctors from PGI, led by Dr. Suchet Sachdev collected a total 194 units of blood.
The camp was inaugurated by the chief guest, IPS, SSP Chandigarh police, Dr. Sukhchain Singh Gill. He was welcomed by the Dean Student Affairs, Dr. Perminderjit Singh who declared him as an ideal choice for the chief guest on the occasion as he was both a doctor and an administrator. Dr. Sanjeev Sofat also welcomed him and spoke a few words on his association with PEC University of Technology. He also talked about how this noble task was being carried out since the past 30 to 40 years; almost since the inception of this college.
The chief guest then honoured the star donors with a token of appreciation for their valuable contribution in this noble task. Over 25 donors were honoured which included members of faculty, staff and the students of PEC. The students who have donated five or more times are recognized as star donors.
The chief guest was then invited to share a few words of encouragement. He mentioned the long association PEC has had with the Police Department, Chandigarh in terms of requirements related to technical expertise and in tackling cyber crimes. He congratulated the students and faculty for their noble contribution and thanked the PEC authorities for inviting him. A token of appreciation was presented to the chief guest by Dr. Sanjeev Sofat. The students were given donor cards that would help them in future to obtain blood in times of need.
