Laboratories and Equipments used in Information Technology Engineering Department:

Extensive practical training marks the high point of the curriculum of the Department of Information Technology, with the following facilities being provided to the students by means of a consortium of laboratories shared by related departments and courses, to ensure intensive interaction amongst students of different yet related fields.
  Laboratories:

  • Computation and Networking Lab
Practical courses on C, C++, Visual C++, Data Structures, Analysis and Design of Algorithms, Computer Communication Networks and Network Technology are held in the Computation and Networking Lab. The lab is well equipped with 13 Pentium-4 based systems and Acer Altos Server and FORE ES-1000 & FORE ES-2810 switches and hubs etc. Networking using Windows NT and Novell Netware is facilitated by appropriate equipment and software for the purpose.

  • Multimedia and Graphics Lab
This lab provides for practical courses in Computer Graphics, Operating Systems, Multimedia, System Programming and Artificial Intelligence. The students are exposed to Windows and Linux environments on the Acer Celeron based systems available.

  • Communication Lab
Analog and Digital Communication Systems practical courses are held in this lab, which boasts of a Standard Signal Generator and Super Heterodyne Receivers. The lab is also equipped with several Cathode Ray Oscilloscopes and kits for numerous multiplexing and demultiplexing digital and analog communication based experiments.

  • Optical Communications Lab
This lab is equipped with Fibercom Benchmark kits for conducting experiments on digital and analog communication in fiber cables, losses in fiber cables, pulse broadening in fiber optical communication, numerical aperture and Manchester coding and decoding. Also available is a Laser communication System including RS-232 and a Laser kit for data and voice communication without any cable.

  • Microprocessors Lab
This lab equipped with Microprocessor kits of the Intel 8085, 8086, 8088 families and Zilog Z-8 families and provides for hands-on training in microprocessor programming and application.

The computing facility labs have software and utilities such as the Windows XP, Windows NT, Windows 98, SCO Unix, Novell Netware, Oracle 8i, AutoCAD, MS-Office, MS Visual Studio, Borland C++, Turbo C++ Assembler, CorelDraw, Dbase etc.

The students also have access to facilities at the Computer Centre which functions with an open access system from 9:00 a.m. to 11 p.m., has fiber optic connectivity to various departmental labs, and includes facilities such as Sun Ultra E450 machines, ATM switches etc.
