Department of Applied Sciences

The department comprises sections of Applied Mathematics, Applied Physics, Applied Chemistry, Engineering Geology & Humanities. The department offers core courses in Applied Mathematics, Applied Physics, Applied Chemistry, Engineering Geology & Humanities (Management, Engineering Economics, Organizational Behavior and Personnel Management) to all undergraduate students. It also offers a course in Material Science to the students of BE Aeronautical Engineering, a course in Physics of Materials to the students of BE Metallurgical Engineering and a course on Modern Physics to the students of BE Computer Science, Electronics & Electrical Communication Engineering and Electrical Engineering. In addition several courses in Mathematics/Applied Mathematics e.g. courses on Numerical Analysis, Discrete Structures are given to select branches of undergraduate engineering according to the prescribed curriculum of Panjab University, Chandigarh. ME Students are offered courses in Advanced Mathematics, Statistical Techniques and Decision Making, Computational Technology, Solid State Physics, Dislocation & Mechanical Properties of Metals, Engineering Geology, Financial Planning & Control, Human Relations in Industry, Environmental Engineering Chemistry and Advanced Engineering Chemistry of Soils. The department provides facilities for research leading to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the field of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Commerce, Finance and Management.
