IEEE PEC organized three competitions DoDesign.com to test the web development skills of the participants Cryptex which is a competition to decipher the codes out of the given problems and Eclectica which is the annual national level paper presentation competition of IEEE PEC. All the competitions saw active participation from students from different colleges and helped the IEEE PEC members to learn the task of organising such competitions.

3 teams from IEEE PEC took part in the IEEE Xtreme competition and enjoyed the thrill and learning process during the 24- hour international coding competition conducted by IEEE. Two of the teams from campus came out with flying colours with good regional ranks.

IEEE PEC got the opportunity to have on campus Mr. Ravi Sehgal (General Electric, Bangalore). He delivered a lecture on “Smart initiatives in Renewable Energy” and “Energy storage devices” on the 16th and 17th of September respectively. It was an interactive session and various projects currently being undertaken by General Electrical were discussed. He shared his industry experience with the students.

IEEE PEC got the opportunity to host the 21st IEEE Delhi Section Quarterly meet at on their campus PEC University Of Technology, Chandigarh. Colleges from all over the Delhi section took part enthusiastically in this meet. The main agenda of the meet was to have an interaction among different student branches and discuss their problems and also to come up with innovative solutions to deal with these problems. A special session by Mr. Rahul Batra (Vice Chair, IEEE Delhi GOLD) was also scheduled where he interacted with students on the need to keep the student branches together.

IEEE PEC organized Haxpresso 1.0, a 6 hour workshop on Digital Forensics and Cyber Security which was taken by Cyber Triumph Technologies Pvt. Ltd. It was held on 12th April, 2015 and covered a wide range of topics such as internet fundaments, footprinting, window hack, bluetooth attacks, phishing, easter eggs, malware, packet sniffing, cryptography, email scans and different case studie. A live demo of Mobile Hacking was also shown during the workshop.

IEEE PEC organised a workshop on basics of Research Paper Writing and Presentation on 9th September, 2015. The workshop was taken by Prof. Jagdish Kumar, Associate Professor, Electrical Engineering Department, PEC University of Technology. The aim of the workshop was to encourage students to write research papers and present their paper in various conferences and competitions.

IEEE PEC has started a series of coding competitions by the name CodeRush where students are given a gist of competitive coding. This competition is organised every alternate week with the aim to increase the participation of PEC students on competitive coding websites. The CodeRush 2.0 was held on 5th September, 2015 and CodeRush 2.1 on 19th September, 2015. This year we are also organising such competitions for the first year students so that they can start early.

The industrial visit is considered one of the most tactical methods of teaching. It provides students with an opportunity to learn practically. ASCE PEC organised Industrial Visit to Bhakra Nangal Dam. The dam, at 741 ft (226 m), is one of the highest gravity dams in the world. The river Satluj used to flow through a narrow gorge between two hills, Naina Devi ki dhar and Ramgarh ki dhar, and the site was chosen to dam the river. The Bhakra Beas Management Board regulates the supply of Sutlej. Ravi. Beas water to the States of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi & Chandigarh (Union Territory). Such Industrial Visit is a great opportunity for engineering students for gaining practical experience.

A 3 day 2 hours daily AUTOCAD workshop was given by NICT, Chandigarh (A Software Training Centre) at Computer Centre of PEC University of Technology. This was a workshop organized by ASCE PEC so that students get a good insight and practical experience on working on drafting software like AUTOCAD. This workshop was intended to help every engineering student in their professional careers. The students turned out in good numbers and were given a completion certificate at the end of the workshop.
