Alumnus A.S. Brara (1965, Mech.) institutes annual Award for students (May 2010)

 

An award namely “MANTEC BRARA AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN CREATIVE WRITING & SPORTS” has been instituted this year. This award is started on the basis of a donation received for an amount of Rs one lakh from PEC Alumnus, Sh. Arvinder S. Brara who graduated in the year 1965 from Department of Mechanical Engineering. Sh. Brara is currently the Chairman and Managing Director of Mantec Consultants Pvt. Ltd. The award will be given from the interest accrued on the donation received, which will be invested in fixed deposit. The award is for PEC Students and will be presented annually to one student for excellence in creative writing & sports activities during the Bachelor studies. The student will be given a cash award of Rs 6000/-.
Sh. Brara felt that his creative skills as editor of PEC magazine and interest in Squash, Tennis, Badminton and Table Tennis have helped him considerably in being successful in his objectives. This award has therefore been instituted to encourage PEC students to give importance also to improving their written communication skills and to include sports in their daily life.
This year the award was conferred during the Alumni Award giving ceremony held on May 21, 2010. Alumnus Vijay Puri gave the award on behalf of Sh. Brara who could not be present due to some inevitable engagement. The award for the year 2009-2010 was bagged by Aseem Grover, passing out student of BE-Mechanical Engineering.
